Initiated and edited by the OCAT Institute, World 3 is an academic series featuring thematic research on art history and theory. Its third volume takes “Research on Chinese Art History – A Western Perspective” as the theme. Along with the increasing frequency of international academic communication since the 1980s, the “Chinese Art History Studies” has attracted global attention that simultaneously brought a new “overseas” context for Chinese art history studies. This book hopes to introduce and recapitulate international knowledge production, address the “Chinese Art History Studies” in different contexts and to reflect on the picture this discipline has drawn in the recent three or four decades after careful comparison.
