This book is the exhibition catalogue of “Metapictures” curated by the 2018 Annual Lecturer W. J. T. Mitchell at the OCAT Institute.
The Adobe of Anamnesis is the publication with the same name as the winning exhibition of 2018 Research-based Curatorial Project initiated by OCAT Institute, which is also the first volume of the series publication regarding Research-based Curatorial Project.
Initiated and edited by the OCAT Institute, World 3 is an academic series featuring thematic research on art history and theory. Its fourth volume of World 3 is based on the theme of “Art History and Museum”.
The famous philosopher and art historian Georges Didi-Huberman presents his interpretation of the classical film Battleship Potemkin, discussing how the visual structure of the images draws a consecutive historical picture, and how it is rendered through a poetic construction.
Initiated and edited by the OCAT Institute, World 3 is an academic series featuring thematic research on art history and theory. Its third volume takes “Research on Chinese Art History – A Western Perspective” as the theme.
This book is produced in conjunction with the exhibition "Sites and Images: Two Research Projects of Oxford University and the University of Chicago."
World 3: Open Iconology proposes to investigate the theoretical lineage of iconology as a modern methodology and its interdisciplinary impact, to showcase the potential prospects of iconology in contemporary research on art history, and to call for an open, critical attitude towards research.
